98 lift question
Hello all, I want to lift my 98 2wd ram for looks only. I have limited tools and room to work with. If I bought a kit, how hard is it to do for a guy with little tools and experience? I checked the DIY section but found no help there. Thanks in advance.
What kind of lift? Body or Suspention? Body Kit all you need is some wrenches a weekend and a few friends, unless you are the Hulk. For suspention you need wrenches, sockets, a good pry bar an inpact wrench capable of 175 ft/lbs for the spindle nuts, a pickle fork for the tie rod ends, may be a pitman are puller depending on the hight of the lift. Stuff to do the break lines, wire extentions and probablly a hole list of other stuff I'm forgetting. Skyjacker, Trailmaster, and Fabtec all make complete kits, you just need to decide what your application is. Do you want to look high and stuff bigger wheels and tires underneath (go with body kit) or do you actually want to ride higher and put a 2wheel peel where no 4 wheel has ever gone before. Depending on how the truck was cared for will determine how hard the old bolts will come out. Most important when you change the ride hight you change the center of gravity so make sure shocks and other suspention parts are not completely shot, trucks can get squirlly enough at factory hight.
