Default No Power to rear O2 sensor

I tried installing my O2 simulator tonight but the LED light didn't blink like the instructions said it should. I unplugged the snesor wires at the connector, ran a ground wire from the battery so I knew I would have a good ground, and checked both hot wires, 1 for the sensor and 1 for heat. I've looked at the wiring diagrams in the downloadable manual and know I'm checking the right wires.

Any help on this? I'll be studying the wiring diagrams trying to figure out where to go from here. Thanks.

if your metering good hot and good ground at the wires,, and your box isnt lighting up.. you got a bad box.. or the connections from the 02 factory leads to the sim box are crossed or incorrect..

its just a 12V + and ground so hook the box up to the batt and see if you can trick it to turn on..

Sorry, no I don't have any current to the hot wires at the plug. That's the reason the LED light isn't working on the simulator. I checked again with a different tester. No power to either hot wire, but I'm getting 1.5 volts on the ground wire. The ignition is turned on when I'm checking for voltage. I'll also check the diagrams for a fuse.
I pulled the fuse for the O2 sensor, it is good.

just checked out haynes. it said to check the asd relay. also it said that if the truck is on and not running the pcm will shut down the circuit. so try starting the truck and checking for voltage.

ok.. you should ATLEAST get power to one of the hot wires right when you turn the truck on.. thast for the heater.. and as soon as the PCM is satisfied in its loop and requests input from the 02's then the other hot wire should kick on..

is your truck warm as in you just got done driving it? prolly not since it wouldnt be too much fun working on the 02's underneath a screamin hot exhaust pipe lol

Problem solved. The truck has to be running to get power to the 02 sensors. The instructions only said to turn the ignition to On. The little LED is blinking quite happily with the truck running.

Thanks for you help guys, I appreciate it. Time for a beer, bath, and to get the wife into bed.

Ok Shott, I'll do that. I got it from O2simulator.com It cost $30 including the shipping. I can't wait to run the truck tomorrow and see if it runs better now that the simulator is installed. I had got a code for the rear O2 sensor being out of range, so that's why I decided to get the simulator. I think the previous owner punched the cat and the he pulled check engine light bulb. I only discovered the problem with the sensor after checking codes with the Hypertech.

yea that happens sometimes.. the price for the sim sure beats the price for a new 02 ... \

wouldnt hurt to reset that PCM of yours... make it relearn that "correct" emmisions system..
