SO I posted this in the other forum...got nothing
I know this is probably not where this goes... but I posted it in the other forum wanting some opinions or responses and got nothing but views... not sure why... maybe its too long anyway, sorry mods, just giving it a shot..
So I'm leaving my office which is situated right between two Toyota dealerships... and one of the little creatons that take the trucks off the lot to be washed or fueled... or tinted... is sitting next to me at the red light... First let me say... it was probably the best looking stock tundra I have ever seen... it was charcoal colored with 20 inch wheels and a little stainless tip on the exhaust... my dad has a tundra and for whatever reason his has always seemed very peppy... so the guy starts power breaking it and lunging....
now my truck is 10 years old (coming up on 11) I have a 170,000 miles... and a few mods (CAI, Headers, 3" Gibson, 52mm fastman throttle body) and when I was a couple years younger I would race any truck that looked at me funny (I have beaten extended cab chevy's, all types of fords... a couple v6 camero's that kind of stuff) but now my baby is getting up there and I haven't throttled it in a long time... (must be growing up) but it was cold outside for the first time in....well ever (southern Louisiana) and my truck is like a different animal in the cold... So I go for it... I jumped him off the line and made him look foolish until about 45 mph... then he started pulling back on me pretty good... (closed the gap from about 3 truck lengths to close to 1) then his truck shifted and I was ahead for good... I let off at about 80 with a 2 truck length lead.... I felt good... I was kind of wondering if the old girl still had it... it is a little noiser now than it used to be... and it takes a couple of turns to crank it sometimes... so it was nice...
I actually just bought a 2007 QC hemi SLT with the 20" wheels... its funny that I was racing and it wasn't even in my new truck...
I was actually wondering if the new truck could have beaten the tundra that badly...
what do you guys think?

Can your new truck outrun the old one? From what I heard, the Hemi will definately outdo the Magnums, so you should have whipped him even more with the new truck. Maybe that Tundra still had some water in it from being attacked by the Lock Ness Monster.
The Tundra's might be able to survive the Lock Ness and meteorites, but they don't handle guard rails very well. I saw on that tangled with a guard rail a few months back, the guard rail won.

When I was kicking around looking for a new truck,I test drove a new Quad 4x4 Hemi 5.7L and I was sadly dissappointed with the power of the Hemi behind such a big truck, it was just a dog when you put it to the floor, sure it made alot of noise, but power to weight ratio just isnt there, IfI were getting a Quad Cab I would seriously look @ the diesel option, and If it were available in this truck the 6.1 L/Hemi or the 8.3L/V10
You can probably expect to be beat quite often If you go up against smaller trucks with V-8's in them with your new quad cab.
Speaking simply stock though because you can tweak the crap outta anything these days to make it better

my buddy has a 06 hemi 4X4 sport RC SB.. and i raced him with my 01 4X4 sport RC SB and he couldnt touch me.. then again he was stock and i was midly worked...
Thats what I keep thinking... cause the 96 has headers, exhaust, cold air intake and a throttle body on it... which has definatly helped the get up and go... Not sure... just wanted to tell you guys what it takes to beat a 4.7 tundra and ask what you thought about the stock 2X4 hemi vs slightly modded 2X4 5.9 magnum
