I can answer a few of those questions. I ordered the Harland Sharp Rockers for my 360 from John Mercedes at Southeast RT for $329 + $10 shipping.I cant tell you how the install goes or how they sound because I havent installed them yet. I plan to do this as soon as it warmes up a bit. But here is a link that explains the install very well http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech/rollerrocker.php. Hopes this answeres some questions.
When I got my 1.7's, I paid 299 plus $12 shipped. I have Harland Sharp non adjustables that I also got from John at Southeast R/T. (www.southeastrt.com). They are the way to go in my opinion. Much cheaper then the Mopar or Crower kits, and much easier to install in my opinion (no lash adjustments, no guideplates, fits under stock valve cover). Here is my post on this topic:

I think the idle did change just slightly. Not as much as with a cam, but it does have a litle bit of a wop wop to it. More noticable after I changed to the 40 Series Flowmaster.
I am not sure how much HP they add, but it was noticable to the butt dyno, so I think it had to be in the realm of 15-20 at the rear wheels. In some of my conversations with John, he would say things like "quick and easy 25hp bolt-on mode", but not sure if he meant rear wheel or fly wheel.
The install is pretty easy actually. Mine took longer because I swapped out my valve covers, replaced my cap and rotor, cleaned the TB, tightened headers, and did a bunch of other stuff while I was at it. The hardest part is getting access to the back side bolts on the valve covers. Other then that, the swapping of the rockers themselves is pretty easy. First one or two is kinda tricky, but then you get the hang of it, and it gets easier to set the new ones in place. Couple of things to be careful of is to make sure they are seated good on the pushrods and make sure the torque is correct. You can also replace your pushrods and springs while your at it if you so desire, but it is not required.
I'm going to try to take a video of my truck for the exhaust sounds thread, so you can hear it over there once I get it posted. Overall though, it is a very good mod in my opinion.
