Default transmission problems

I am having problems with my 1998 dodge ram 2500 gas. It will go forwards just fine and shift normal, however when i go to put it in reverse, i can feel it shift into reverse but when i push the accelerator, it will not go. Even if i put it in 4X4 it still will not go in reverse. It all started when i was pulling into a parking lot and was going very slowly and i went to shift into reverse while still moving slightly forward and thats when i noticed it would not go backwards. I don't know if this caused it to mess up, me shifting from forward to reverse while it was still going forwards slowly, or if it was already messed up and i just hadn't noticed it yet. I have gotten other opinions from other people and they had said something bout possibly a sensor or something bout bands in the tarnsmission? Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: transmission problems

Check the shift lever adjustmenttoo. rule it out.

Then go towards something more difficult. u might try the first/reverse band adjustment. If you wantto do this, then u have to drop the pan, so mebbe change the oil and filter while ur at it.

I'd try everything before going to a shop, but there's not a lot to DIY on tranny unfortunately.

and when u go to a shop, be it someone u can trust and is ASE certified on trannys.

I had a moron work on mine and it has become worse (but driveable)
