Default noise

I have a whining noise coming from my engine bay when I warm my truck up. I've been having problems with the heating system/ coolant. I thought my heater core was going. I have the blast of nasty smelling coolant when I first turn on the heat, but there is no coolant leaking on the passenger side and my carpet is not wet. I know I have a leak somewhere because the coolant was dangerously low when I checked it. Could the whining be the water pump? Please Help.

Default RE: noise

if you can smell your coolant when your heat is on then i think yourneed a new core.
you can check your pulleys and your water pumpbyusing a mechanics stethescope or you can take a long handled screw driver, put the handle to your ear and the other end to what you want to listen to. you'll be able to tell where the noise is coming from.
