Default Code P1740

I have a 2000 Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9. I was riding in the mountains about a month ago and the OD light came on by itself and the tranny shifted out of OD. This was after driving about 40 miles and I was at about 55-65 mph. After about 15 miles I came into town where I was going and the light went out and the tranny shifted into OD. I stopped for about 45 minutes then got back in the truck to go home. It did fine until I went about 40 miles and it did the same thing. When I got back close to town at home, my speeds dropped and the light went back off and it shifter into OD. I spent the next couple of days in town so no problems. A few days later the Check Engine light came on. I pulled the negative battery cable to reset the light and after a few days it came back on. I then noticed that the Torque Converter was not going in to lockup. I had Advance Auto pull the code and it was P1740. This truck has about 90,000 miles. I have read many threads on this code but just want some thoughts and input.

Default RE: Code P1740

start with cheapest, major tune-up, then replace all the solenoids in the trans and since you have the trans out might as well replace the torque converter, and if that doesn't work then rebuild your trans and get a life time warrenty so when it happens again you are covered. the P1740 is a major problen with the dodge
