Default 3" Lift Installed

So, today I changed my lift from a Skyjacker 2" lift to a 3" lift. Previously, I had Skyjacker kit D201k, which consisted of 2" coils for the front, and an AAL for the rear. Most 2" lifts are more of a leveling lift, but Skyjackers 2" lift comes with the same AAL that the 3" kit (D301k) comes with. So instead of being level, I basically still had the factory rack. Since I already had the right AAL to do 3" coils in the front, I just swapped out my 2" coils (D20) for 3" coils (D30). Now it is actually level, but at 3", which is exactly what I was hoping for. Took me about 1.5hrs per side to swap out the coils. It was a tight fit, but I managed to get the new coils in with nothing more then disconnecting the shock and the sway bar, and lowering the axle. Here are some pics. In the picture of the coils side by side, the one on the left is my old 2", and the one on the right is the new 3". Not a big difference in height when viewed like this, but I think the 3" actually feels a little stiffer after driving around.

Glad to see things went smoothly. I'm jealous of the fact it's snowing where you are.

I don't recall the part number on the shocks, they have been on there since I installed the original 2". But, they are Rancho 9000RSX adjustables sized for a lift of 1-3". AAL is add-a-leaf. It is a single leaf that goes in the leaf pack in the rear to lift up the rear.

i put a 3/1.5" rough country on mine. its a little rougher ride than stock put it gives you just enough more height to clear the trunk of a car. i love the intimidation factor. headlights blaring down on the old hag in front of me.

My neighbor who also has a '99 1500 already talked to me today after I put the new 3" coils in. He has claimed dibs on my old 2" coils already. Sorry guys.

I know this is not on the topic, but i have some questions about your truck Silver_Dodge. First of all, where did you get your seat covers? Those look exactly like what I am looking for.Your overhead console and tow hooks, do you have the part numbers and mounting instructions or anything. Any info would be awesome. I really like your truck and wish mine could be that clean. Thanks alot.

The seat covers are from Iggee. Here is the post I did on them awhile back. I am still very happy with them. I installed them last December, and they still look like new today. I can't say that I ever had any cloth seat covers still look good after a year of use.

The overhead console I bought on eBay. I don't know the part number, it is just a console out of another Ram. I wanted one with the compass and all that stuff, but finally decided to just get this one because all I really wanted was another cubby space. Here is my post on it's install. It was pretty easy.

I bought my tow hooks from a dealership, but I recommend you send a PM to GOD RAM IT. He makes ans sells custom brackets that allow you to mount a variety of tow hooks, and it is much cheaper then the Mopar kit like I bought. Here are some post on this topic:

Let me know if you have any other questions I can help with.
