is anything wrong with it? as in, is it clogged? if theres nothing wrong with it, dont mess with it, youll regret it. most of us that have gutted it, did it b/c the damn thing clogged up and it was a cheap fix instead of/ or until we could get it replaced.

when you gut your cat, you open up the free flowing exhaust. hence loss in back pressure. a simple fix is not to gutt the whole cat. simply take a one inch piece of rebarb and carefully knock out what is clooged not fully opening the cat. that way you still get some back pressure.and the 02 sensors dont go crazy.

Mine was clogged when I gutted it. As for the whole back pressure thing, I know what everyone says, but it improved the way my truck runs greatly. No problems with the O2 sensors, and it made it louder, but not enough to cause any problems.

I just gutted mine also. Have not driven much since but seems to run a bit better. I don't think it was clogged, but wanted to try it. If you have problems with the o2, fastman has a bypass to fool the computer. The only one it will affect is the second one for cat efficiency.

I gutted my cat and my 1999 360 ran great, but I hated the hollow sound I got from it so I took it right out and replaced it with pipe and put the O2 sensors back and now it sounds good and runs great. No check engine light comes on and the mod has been done for about 15000 Kms.
