Default Fuel pump death?

I was driving about 60 down the freeway in my (2001 ram 2500 2WD Regular Cab 5.9L gas) I started accelerating and it just wouldnt speed up. It started bumping so bad and I almost thought that it was maybe a flat tire. After that it wouldnt start right and it just died. I think it might be a fuel pump or filter clog but this problem came out of no where... Anyone have any idea what this could be? I got the truck only a few weeks ago and another random problem it had BEFORE was that it drips gas when it gets filled up but I fixed that with Gorilla Tape. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

stand outside the truck, and put your head a little below the gas filler door. have someone turn the ignition key from off to on, but dont try to start it. you should be able to hear the fuel pump priming the system. it'll whine for about 2 seconds. if you dont hear this your pump is most likely dead.

If you have to drop the tank, make sure you take a very good look at the brake lines behind it, it tends to rust without warning. Good luck with your truck.
