I ran mine for a few monthes with stock headers and just the cat. It sounded like ****, flat out. Don't do it unless its just for screwing around with. Killed my mpg and power. Now I have a Magnaflow System

I had a dump between my cat/catback and with headers it sounded like crap. While it was marginally faster for the sound, not worth it IMHO.
Headers, ypipe and h/f cat (gutted itself) with Magnaflow glasspack. Had the oddcrackle letting off when coming off the highway butwas minor, soundedgreat overall. Had to pass etest 2yrs later so new Magnaflow h/f cat so its quieter now.
Here is what it sounded like NA with a mild cam on the 1/4mile. (smoking hemi Ram)

you can get these pieces that go before the mufflers and they have electric flaps, when you press a button you have a straight through. sorry don't have a link

i've been looking at exhuast and frankly being a college student i'm too broke to go for a system (gotta pay for beer and women some how) i'm considering buying a 2.5" glasspack and a turn down and seeing how well it does. a hundred dollars for a flowmaster just doesn't jive well.

i just cut off my flowmaster about a week ago and bolted up a piece of 3" pipe with a nice turndown in its place and it sounds pretty good. really deep and lots of crackle. i have pacesetter headers though..
