Number 2 Cyl Misfire
Hey everyone. I got my Ram a little less than a month ago and I've been poking around the Forum for a few weeks at random stuff. But, unfortunatly the time has come for my first post.
Under normal driving my check engine light came on. I had it scanned at the local auto-zone and it read "Number 2 Cyl Misfire." I did a quick visual of the plug-wire to make sure it was connected. I had the gentleman clear the code and bought some Fuel System cleaner in hopes that it is a dirty injector. I had the code cleared. 60 miles later the light is back and I am assuming it is the same issue. The fuel system cleaner hasn't had time to go through yet so I'm not quite ready to give up on that.
How would yall handle this? What things would you try first, second, and so on?
A little info on the truck I am sure would be helpful. 97 Ram ext cab, 5.2L, auto. 92k miles on it. Its running great. I've only had it a short while but it runs smoother and quicker than I would have expected. Any and all input is welcome so please help.

Mine was sort of doing the same thing , the thing was bucking and spittin sputtering,, had the thing in the shop 3 times they replaced a few sensors here and there, the truck still acted up. So I thought I'll take a look at it my self replaced the plugs, and checked the distributor cap and there was all carbon in it then I checked each plug wire 1 of them was rusty and dirty went to the car part store bought cap , wires and rotor intalled it and she goes like a bad out of hell no more bucking and going crazy. So I would say check your wires and distributor cap it might be they are dirty.
Start with the easy thing, just replace the plug, but if it fixes it I would change them all.
I had a misfire on #5 on my SRT after I put my headers on. I had removed the plugs and somehow when the plugs were on the work bench or when I was putting the back in I must have hit the plug and the gap was nearly 0!! Well obviously that was my issue why I got the misfire code, new plug gapped correctly and I was good to go.
If the plug does not work then I would say the wire.
