Default oil presure switch/sender

Well, I am at a loss,I bought the part and a stupid haynes guide (waste of money) only to discover that it didn't tell me where the darn thing is located. Now, I don't have a problem looking of it, I have seen on other posts that it is on the passenger side of the block. But, it is pretty frickin cold here and I am trying to avoid frostbite.haha. If someone could, am I going to have better luck from the top/bottom of the truck, and if possible is there anything more specific to look for, is it by the oil pan etc. I appreciate any help. Also, is the chilton's guide any better than the crappy haynes?

Yes happy to help as I just changed mine! On the 5.9 it is located next to the distributor on the passenger side. You will have to remove the air filter assy. and crawl up on the passenger side to get at it. It is a bear to get to and you will be working mostly by feel, but it can be done. One bit of advice, invest in a 1 1/16 th DEEP WELL socket!!!! I didn't have one and did it with a Cresent wrench,(the only thing I had of the right size) and it was tough. The socket will make a nearly impossible task a breeze. Good luck!

I cut a piece of 1/2 inch plywood andlay it across my engine compartment. It allows me to use the front bumper as a step and lay down while reaching the distributor, oil pressure sending unit, and anything else at the back of the engine. No more bolts stuck in my ribs.
