Default O2 sensor causing poor mpg

recently replaced my plugged cat and thought my mpg would go back up to what it used to be (14.7
according to overhead display), but it hasn't that much. over the past 5 months my CEL has come on and I would just disconnect the battery for about 10 min and it would go away. CEL came on last night and I used my scanner that I just bought at a tag sale for $25. P0138 voltage high bank1 sensor 2. could something like this cause such bad mpg and power loss? thanks for your help

absolutely. but not the second O2 sensor, as your code would indicate.

a clogged cat can and will destroy the front O2 sensor though, so its possible that one is bad. when my O2 was bad i was getting 4-5 mpg and it would exhale black smoke at idle and smeel of unburnt fuel.

It is to my understanding that an O2 sensor can go bad and not through a code so it is possible that you have 2 bad....My cat clogged up, I was getting 4MPG I got it replaced and it was getting 12 easy....then it all went to crap again, I am replacing both O2s this week...
