Default Cam selection

A little advice: whadya think of http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Dy...8HR-10_001.aspfor a torque building cam.....

...........for an otherwise stock engine,duals/Flowmaster, 3.55 gear & a slightly taller than stock tire. I'll install a 160 stat, 93 octane pump and am toying with the idea of a mild port job on the stock iron heads. With this cam I'll have to change the springs too.I plan on a computer upgrade (Mopar?) in the near future. I'm undecided about headers.

Thanks

At the moment the 93 octane is doing nothing with the stock ecu. Actually you're probably not burning all of the fuel and wasting some. The cam is fine, but for 90 bucks you can get a set of 1.7 viper rockers and they do the same thing.

one thing to consider though... all of the "big" cam manufacturers grind their cams on what works with a chevy engine. The magnum engine flows much less exhaust through the head than the chevy, so the cam grind should be a bit different. You'd be better off with a cam from someone that specializes in dodge's. www.hughesengines.com comes to mind first. They custom grind their cams and do in house dyno testing on all of them. IMHO, the best magnum cam hands down. Email them for a recommendation.

Yep. If you have to replace the cam, then aftermarket is the way to go. Also hughes is a great place to get parts.
