Default Need help removing fan

Hello,
I need to replacethe water pump on my 2001 Ram. Should be a fairly easy job. Unless you can't get the fan off of the pully. I'm using a strap wrench to try to hold the pully in place and a pair of channel locks to crank on the nut. This sucker will not come loose. I've checked with the auto parts stores to see if they carry the specialty tool for this but they don't. Any suggestions would be appreciated before I nurse it up to the repair shop and pay them an arm and a leg to do it.

I didnt take my fan off when I replaced my waterpump....well atleast when it was on the truck still. See....I didnt have the bolts or w/e everyone was saying you could latch onto on the pulley.....so I jst put the pump in a vice once it was out of the truck and did it that way.

Put the belt back on. Then put a long wrench on the nut and hit the end of the wrench with a mallot or 2x4 .Don't use a steel hammer or the wrench will jump out of your hand. .The tool you buy does the same thing except with a air hammer attached.

Yep, when I took mine off I just rapped it with a mallet, broke it free easily.
