Default 2nd gen ball joints

2001 2wd 1500 quad cab, 5.9L, 104,000 mi
Just replaced front coils with 2" taller and heavier coils to handle my slide-in camper. Took to garage for front-end alignment, mechanic tells me ball joints are worn and need replaced and this is common problem for 2nd gen Dodges and Fords. Anyone with similar experience?

I am new at 2nd Gen Dodges, but I remember my dads '00 went out pretty early too. I have 79K on mine, I better jack it up and check 'em![:@]

You might as well check the pitman armand idler arm as well, I found out these are worn as well! Aftermarket Moog ball joints which bolt in, unlike OEM which are riveted, idler arm, drag link, pitman arm puller and air chisel set me back about $500. Mechanic wants $1000 so I think I'll spare him the aggravation and do it myself! Jeesh, I just realized if everything else is bad, what about tie rod ends???
