Default Considering a 95 Ram 2500

I have an opportunity to pick up a '95 Ram 2500 4WD with V-10, automatic. First off, what kind of gas mileage should I expect if I get this truck? Secondly, how reliable is the V10 engine? This truck has 125000 miles on it, but I've yet to see it. Here is a picture I was sent:

looks good from a distance.
v10 has good power. 2500 has the HD axles. it will tow strong. mileage is low for the age. 2500 has the hd trans (47re or 47rh).
it ain't no honda... gas mileage will probably be about 10-14 city/hwy, probably about the same maybe a little worse than the 5.9/360. RM_Indy has one, try PM'ing him.

watch for things that are going to cost you a lot of extra money. trans, front end, irritating cracked dash.
good luck.

used to have one..the valve stem seals were bad on one side and it got about 8 mpg...then had the motor rebuilt bored .030 over and put straight pipes on it and it got about 10-12..didnt make much of a difference towing...that thing had all kinds of power though..even with the auto..it was a good truck

I wouldn't worry about the mileage on the V10, it's a strong motor and is just getting broken in at 125k. I'd be more concerned about the rest of the truck. What maint. has been done on it? Have u-joints, ball joints, axle joints, l-links, etc. been replaced recently? If not, you may be looking at some repairs in the near future. Also, take a look for rust on the bottom of the doors. If it has started there, it won't be long til you have an extra vent by your feet.

The V10 is great though, it has pulled anything i've ever asked it to without even breaking a sweat. Even through mountains.

As far as mpg, mine gets 10-11 in town and 11-12 on the highway.

Thanks, guys for the feedback. This truck, from what I gather from the owner, was used on a snow route, so not sure what abuse it may have had. The tailgate was stolen, so I would need to do something there, and it needs a windshield and tires. I haven't saw it yet in person, but I wanted some opinions first on basically the V10, so that feedback is well appreciated, as well as all the feedback. The guy wants $3500 or he will take my '98 Dakota for it. I'm a little hesitant, though I need a bigger truck and 4WD would be nice, but I know my Dakota. My Dakota has similar miles on it and has a significant dent in the passenger door. I pull a 14 foot single axle trailer and my V6 Dakota does that okay, but a bigger truck would be awfully nice. I guess I need to go see this truck and weighed rather or not I want it bad enough. Thanks again, guys for the good feedback.

the tailgate can be replaced by a junkyard.... the windshield and tires are gonna be a little money but the truck sounds like a pretty good deal....
