Mine is equiped with a 3.92 riding on 285s & a 5 speed. I pull the same type of load with out many issues. If I were to make any changes it would be to 4.10s

Is your 5th 1 to 1 or overdrive?
If your only problem is up hill it's a lot cheaper just to drop to 4th when you need to.
