I have 2001 ram 5.2L, is there anyway i can install a mopar performance pcm on my truck? I know the years have to match up. If not which is better hypertech or superchips

You'll get the most out of a mopar performance pcm, but finding them is hard.

Where would you even begin to look for one at, was they an after market option or did they come on certain models?

They aren't on specific models. It's an actual mopar performance part. You used to be able to get them at dodge but now I think your best bet is ebay.
