Default Fog INSIDE the cab

I think I know the answer, but...
A while back, my A/C stopped working. No matter what I got heat. I live in SoCal so heat isn't really a huge issue (except to unfog my windows in the morning). Now anytime I try to use it (heat or cool) only heat comes out and - no other way to describe it but - fog comes out. It's really think like smoke - the first time I thought my truck was on fire!! - but there's no smell and it hands around for a long time and fogs up the windows. There's a plastic housing under my glove compartment that gets HOT anytime I drive, but especially when I gave the A/C a shot.
What does it sound like? Is it a relatively easy or at least a "doable" home repair?

Thanks for any info/input

Thanks - that's kind of what I thought, but wanted to get some expert opinions.

1 1/2 hours for the whole heater core swap out? So, not being a tech but being able to handle myself, maybe 2 1/2 to 3 hours?
Or am I misunderstanding something?

Just got my 00 Dodge 1500. I Have the same problem. When I blow the heat smoke comes out just for a few seconds and then it is fine. The AC works great. I wonder if I have the same problem.
