Default Permanent Posi Lok

A buddy of mine gave me a bran new Posi Lok for my truck. It's a permanent system not the version that has the cable to disconnet the CAD system. I looked on line at the Posi Lok system and it claimes that it is for full time off roading. Should I not install it in my truck if its a daily driver?

I'd install it, for years Jeep Cherokee's came with no CAD unit, they were just connected all the time. Since theres no turning load being applied from the drive shaft your u joints shouldn't bind or anything, until you put it into 4wd, then it will be the same as if it had a CAD

Yeah there could be a little binding, I know a few guys with 35's on a Dana30 fully locked, w/out the CAD unit and they haven't broke anything (excluding off road). They do chirp a bit though

assuming he has a standard, open front differential, there should not be any tire chirp when in 2wd. his axles will be coupled, the spider gears are open and turning, allowing full differentiation. the only thing new is now he's turning his front drive shaft, which might cost him a teeny bit of gas mileage and wear. right ?
