Default Fuel Delivery problem

I have a '98 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.9L engine. The other day it stopped sending any fuel from the pump. I put a brand new pump into it, $270 I might add, and today again, no start with no fuel. It spit a few times and that was it. I disconnected the battery for a minute, then tried again and once it got what seemed to be fludded injectors clear it started. I wouldn't think this is the fuel pump again as it's brand new. What else could it be? Please let me know as the last thing I want to happen is to break down somewhere other then my driveway.

Thanks in advance!
