Default 98 Ram Stalls at Idle

Ok, wee battle won.( Refer to 98 Ram starting issues )

Truck : 98 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Sport 5.9L 360, stock engine, stock trans. Replaced CAT, plugs, wires, coil, dist, water pump, brakes, speed sensor, and a few rolls of duct tape.

Issue: After replacing the coil and distributor, getting the truck to start - it doesnt hold at idle. I have to keep the RPM high by foot to keep it running.

First hip shot is throttle body is gummed, gona go get some cleaner to use and see if it works. ANY advice would be appreciated.

Close this thread. Some carb cleaner in the TB and a toothbrush seemed to take care of the problem. PCV valve was gunked up too, cleaned it. Sooner or later a full overhaul of my engine will be necessary.

My thanks to all of you guys who gave suggestions to help. I spent a total of $60. If I would of taken it to a shop - $400 easily.

My ol' girl purrs like a kitten at the first keyturn. Time to get her dirty.

Glad to hear all is well. I was going to tell you to clean the TB and the IAC (mounted on the back of the TB) as this fixes most idle issues.

Good Job.
