I am all new to this forum and to dodge trucks all together but i just recentaly got a 99 dodge ram with a 5.2 in it. and it sounds like there is some loose stuff inside the catalytic that rattles around inside. The truck also feels like it should have a little more power could the cat. be the problem to the power loss?

Here's a time when the "rap test" may actually work. Whack the bottom of the cat to make sure that's where the rattling is coming from. If it is, you can either gut it or replace it (if you've got smog checks in your area).

 

theres alot of crap in ur cat and it prolly broke apart, happened to mine and I just gutted it... i got connections but normally its illegal, anyways, here is what is in ur cat ^^
