ignition coil upgrade

RE: ignition coil upgrade
the coil is awesome, I had an Off-Road MSD coil and loved it. when I added the Off-Road spark box, it also ran great... only downside is the cap & rotor did not hold up well... 20k was about it, then I had pinging problems. I also found out that the stock mopar cap & rotor worked the best.

RE: ignition coil upgrade
with your msd ingition what plug gap are you guys running ? im running a .050 gap with autolites ... sorry to high jack this thread .
mineis a daily driver and it really pulls between 1700-2500 rpm.. plus ill let ya know my mpg... and a wiring harness wouldnt hurt with the install. ill do a write up soon.. on this..

RE: ignition coil upgrade
i used the msd wiring harness p/n 8873unversal , even tho in msd catalog they have a plug in harness they still dont have it in stock... i had to cut the coil wire and put ends on them which is in the wiring harness this makes the hook up of the 6a easy.(plug and play) .. and aclean look to.

RE: ignition coil upgrade
with just a coil upgrade no gapping is needed run stock gap..... with the msd box you should gap .05above stock so like my truck stock is .035 so i keep bumping it till you get a good burn at.045 i had a good burn and the truck runs better , at .050 runs great at 208 miles only used a half tank..
performace gain alone wont tell much but add the 8 mm or the 8.5 mm plug wires frees up the rpm a little better responce ...
