Default Coffee as Coolant?

Need help guys,

Doing the plenum and the coolant drained is very very dark. I'm guessing that is oil contamination and maybe rust. I was really hoping not to pull the heads. Are there any best places to look or ways to id a cracked head or bad head gasket from the intake side? I don't want to put it back together broken, but I wasn't planning on being apart long enough to do a lot of exploring. I'm admittedly a novice and greatly appreciate your thoughts.

By the way, there is more oil pooled in the plenum than I imagined. I couldn't see it through the butterflies but when I pulled the tb last night I was shocked. There is more oil in my plenum than in my mother in laws oil pan (she "forgets" to check it.). It explains a lot of the probs I've been having. I'm looking forward to getting the truck back together, bought it used and I'm not sure that it has ever run the way it was intended to while i was at the wheel. This forum is great, thanks to all you guys that make it that way!

No it's not. I'm leaning that way as well because the oil doesnt seem to be contaminated.

Doesn't appear that there are a lot of people with advice on this. I will stick it together and see what happens. At least now I know I can get back in there without to much trouble.

Really doubt you've got oil in the coolant. It tends to go the other way. It's probably the original stuff from the factory. Flush and fill.

I agree, if the oil is not milky, then there is no problem.

My mom tried to get me to drink the antifreeze koolaid when I was a kid, but I'd done something to her.

I was thinking the same thing. if I've got a problem it would be presenting in both. I'll put it together and see where it goes. Thanks all.
