GVWR what can i really hual?
I have a 01 1500 and the door panal reads 6600 lbs but when i went to the dump andthe scale reads 7660 lbs. Is the 6600 the truck empty or is that the max? what can i really hual?. the *** end saged alot untill i put a helper spring from Summit raceing on and i put 3500 shocks on too, she rides better and level but i am concerned about the weight. I don't gun it and i do not hit the breaks hard either. So i am wondering if i am ok with the weight
Technically you were over weight, if you had gotten in an accident, and it was investigated, you would have been at fault for beeing overloaded. 6600lbs is max weight truck and load. I think the 1500's weigh like 5000 lbs empty so you can haul 1600 lbs in your bed. It'll handle more though. My GVWR for my 2500 is 8800 lbs (6000 lb empty) so I can legally carry 2800 lbs in the bed, but when I got to the dump, I weighed in at 10,200. *** end was saggin but it handled it just fine
along with the suspension, engine, trans, brakes, tires and the rear end will determan the trcks load capabilitys. I got to thinkin, at the dumpgo into it i was 8,200ish and leaveing i was 7660, i know two mattresses do notweigh 600 lbs. i was guessing all the weight would have been a lil over a 1/2 ton (1000)lbs. I think the scale there was wrong the welding machine is 500 alone and letssay all the hand tools and the ladder rack was another 500, then 30 gallon tank at 8lbs a gallon im guessing3/4 ton. but 1ton seems a lil to far off. or may be iam really off with my guessing.
