Default rusted intake manifold bolt

Well I started in on my plenum repair, and everything was going great. Got everything removed and no problems until it came to removing the first bolt on the passenger side. It was rusted all the way through. I put my wrench on it and it snapped off. I didn't put any force on it or anything. Pissed me off!!![:@]Well nowI have about 3/16 to 1/8of the bolt sticking up past the block. Well I tried all of the other bolts and they come off without a problem.

Now my question, can I leave that rusted bolt in there or should I tryremoving it?My reason for wanting to leave it is its at the front of the engineand the other 11 bolts will hold it down, without leaking. Right?Plus, it'll be a pain in the a**!

So whatshould I do, leave it or try removing it?

the other 11 bolts will hold it down, without leaking. Right?
wrong. it will leak because when it gets hot it will warp if its not torque down properly.
you will need to get it out and preserve, or repair the theads so you can replace the bolt.
cover everything up so you don't get any metal, tools, etc down in the motor. cardboard, duct tape, clean rags, etc. having it sticking up above the block is good, try to get a good set of vice grips on it and turn it out. use a lot of PB blaster penetrating oil and let it soak. try not to break it off. if the bolt has any metal left on it you might try grinding flat spots to get a better grip. if it breaks off then your going to have to drill it out and then use an ease-out. go slow, try not to mess up the threads or it just keeps getting harder. good luck.

Doing the same repair as we speak. For what it's worth I broke two off. Got lucky though, both broke above the block. I second the pb blaster. Don't skimp on this just spend the $5. This stuff is well worth the money.

PB, vice grips, and a little swearing at the car repair gods and they both came out. Good Luck!

Yeah I'm still soaking the broken bolt with PB, I'll continue to do it until I can get it out. But it was broken before I got to it and I don't have any leaking from that spot, so that is why I was asking.
