Yes it does work if the engine is not beyond the worn out stage. I've used it in several vehicles and it does increase compression.

I use it every oil change. 88000 miles and it made a noticeable difference when I started using it. After about 1500 miles of my first use, I could tell it had more power and I saw a slight gain (about 1/2) mpg increase in fuel economy, probably due to the better compression.
