Default Error Codes

Was driving my 2001 ram sport the other day and tranny started slipping, so today i changed fluid and filter and it has some nasty black stuff in the bottom of the pan with a few shavings. the pan was also missing a bolt so i went over to town to look for one and on the way home my engine light comes on. It has two error codes 1682-Charging system error-even though everything is working fine and the alt. seem to be charging and 1740- Over Drive Sensor Bad on the way home it kicked out of OD and had the OD OFF light come on and i coudltn turn it off, except for shutting my truck off for a little while then starting it back up. it runs fine without slipping now but im wondering about the lights. and help would be appreciated.

I would say by the P-1740 code and the black stuff in your tranny pan that your Touqure converter is going bad...(just my 2 cents)
