I've seen a few pics where people re-do there axles on here and they coat it with some shiny black stuff, it looks like black tar or whatever but makes the axle look sweet and im sure it protects it somehow WHAT IS IT

Yea por 15. Also ive used one from i think rustoleum. It came in a quart and gallon can. I think it was about 15 buks for a quart, but you scrape any excess rust off, and just paint it on. I used it on both fords at work because the frames were both rusting fairly bad and it did a great job. Looks alot better too. Just don't use it on the drive shafts.
