sweet, i'll check that out. ive never had the tranny temp light come on but the heaviest towing i've done was in the winter. i'll check all the wiring harnesses and clean up teh connections, check grounds, etc. as far as the sensor....if it were bad, would it throw a DTC? cause the only DTCs ive had were for my O2 sensor which I recently replaced.

i see where aamco is running free diagnostic tranny services...i know where im goin

I would think two ... maybe three or four times before taking the truck into AAMCO for a free "diagnosis". Stores do these things for a reason ... to drum up business. I will make a bet with you, right now, that they will find SOMETHING wrong with your tranny ... and probably recommend a rebuild. Then you'll be driving worried until you get one.

i don't see whether you said or not how long its been since fluid and filter change. i would still do that before anything else, as it can sometimes cure problems. if you don't want to do it yourself carry it to aamco and have fluid, filter and diagnosis. BUT, the fluid and filter should only be about $75-125 and like Bill said, they ARE going to tell you that you need a $2000 rebuild. maybe you do, maybe you don't, i doubt it.

You have never changed the fluid in your truck? How many miles have YOU put on the current fluid?

That's a major no-no.

ive put about 15K miles on it.....maybe 20K since I had it. it now has about 108K miles on it. i heard that sometimes changing it would be worse on it than not changing it depending on what hte situation is

i had bald tires when i had the surging problem. it would do it so bad sometimes that my tires would spin while doing 70 on the highway. but i also had no tread at all on the tires. i guess it was just wishfull thinking that the steel belts would give me traction. anyways, i didnt replace anything, just cleaned.

If your transmission takes a dump on you, you won't be thinking "lol" about having not changed the fluid. Automatic transmissions are perhaps the most abused part on a vehicle. The fluid and filter should be changed every 24,000 miles and the bands adjusted then as well.

Laugh all you want, but you'll be crying at $2,500+ for a new/rebuilt transmission.
