97 O2 sensor

not exactly sure about your 97, but look in your exhaust pipes past the cast iron exhaust manifolds, up to, and just beyond the catalytic converter. you might have 2 or 3 or 4 o2 sensors. it will be screwed into the pipe and have a wire going to it. the wire connection may be 1-2-3 feet away from the actual sensor, unplug it first, so that when you turn the o2 sensor, you don't twist the wire. if its really really tight spray some wd40 or penetrating oil on the threads and let it soak awhile. my 01 has only two o2 sensors, one just before the cat and one after. my guess is you also have only two, and i think bank 1, sensor 1, is the one before the cat, and bank 1, sensor 2 is the one after the cat.

Bank 1 is always the bank where cylinder No. 1 is, and Bank 2 is the opposite bank.
After the point where the pipes meet, everything is Bank 1.
