need help im confused
i really really dont know anything about rearends at all nor gears. Im trying to make my truck have Posi trac in it and have 4.10 gears. Now if u buy a 4.10 gears will it make my truck posi or do i have to buy a posi track differential? or am i wrong about this? what do i need? where can i find it? thnx guyz!!!
you would need a posi track dif AND 4.10 gears. i recommend going with an aftermarket LS dif. the factory trac lock as its called is crap. also 4.10 is above the gear/carrier slip so u have to take that into account when ordering
so u would choose an aftermarket LSD over Posi? Also where can u find 4.10 gears at??? Im totally searchn hard and all i find is 4.10's off ebay for a 9 1/4 rearend from "Gears are us" Im just trying to get off the line quick with little spinning with 4.10 gears i mean i already have 17" Rims with wide *** tires on em. just a little help on finding these dang gears!!!![:@]
How that possible i got a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.2 single cab. it spins on one side then the other kicks in. all i want is both to spin at the same time with 4.10's thats it.
if your not real hard core rock climbing, high horsepower, and/or huge tires, you could change ring and pinion gears and add a powertrax noslip to the rear. its an affordable locker. i just put one in mine and it spins both wheels all the way to the deepest part of the mudhole.
avoid no-name gears. motive, yukon, etc are good.
be aware of the 2 different versions of powertrax for chrylser 9.25 one is for open carrier, one is for factory limited slip. if you not sure pull the cover off and double check. if your still not sure take a picture of it and post it up here.
