4X4 clicking noise when disengaged
Ok gents, probably a real basic one. My passenger side front tire "clicks" when 4X4 is not engaged. When I shift into 4X4, clicking goes away.
I'm going out to check the vacuum lines and the posi-lok cable, but i dont think thats a problem see'n it shifts into 4X4 ok and shifts out.
Any ideas? ( I'm think'n ball joint... )

I'd check the u-joint on the axle shaft. Ball joints wouldn't make any kind of steady clicking noise. A spinning u-joint that's dry or has broken rollers in it can make that all too familiar sound that you are describing.
Good luck with your ride.

U-Joint it is. Passenger side rattles around while sittn' there. Drivers side is tight. Never worked on suspension / wheels before. How difficult would it be to do myself? Any special tools required?

its kinda a pita to change those u-joints, I just changed the one on my frontdrivers side. Your going to need a set of standard hex heads to remove the brake caliper, a 12 point socket to remove the three bolts from the wheel bearing/hub. and a 2 or 3 jaw puller to pull the damn bearing/hub out
Grrr....made me angry
