i give up. what's a 4 wheel drive converter ?

if you are talking about changing a 2 wd truck to a 4 wd truck, its not worth the trouble. sell the 2wd. buy a 4wd.

Guess you could start with getting a different suspension
Different front axel
Transfer case from a 4X4

I've heard of guys on this forum doing it, so one of them might help you, but I think they all but donor trucks for the project.

It actually wouldn't be that hard, I dunno why people make a big deal of it.

Disassemble the whole front IFS crap and remove it.
Get a Dana44 or 60 out of another Dodge for simplicity, doesn't have to be from a Dodge but if it is will pretty much bolt up.
Gonna need a transfercase and a 4wd transmission to swap in, also will need a 4wd crossmember, and driveshaft.
Hook up the linkage for the t-case and the vacume crap (a non CAD axle would be sweet though)

A buddy of mine bought a 2wd cherokee, swaped it to 4wd, lifted/locked/wheeled it, flipped it on its side, put it BACK to 2wd, bought a 2wd Comanchee and swaped that to 4wd which is lifted/locked/wheeled.

The reason its so easy on Cherokee's at least is because all the stuff for 4wd is on there! Like control arm mounts, the holes in the frame for the crossmember is there, ect. Its more or less unbolt and rebolt in new stuff.

if he doesnt even know if theres a '4 wheel driver converter kit', then theres a good chance he's not capable of installing the components anyway.

redrocket: you could sell your truck, and purchase a 4wd for less money than it would cost to round up all the components you're gonna need for a 4wd conversion. go buy a 4wd
