Default help with 4x4

hi there ok well finnaly got around to checking my dodge. A couple of days ago after having the dodge in the garage for around 6 months, i shifted it into 4wd and nothing. No lights or nothing so i unhooked the connector in the bottom and the vacuum lines and put them back and it worked for a bit but the light would go off and no 4wd. Well then i would drive foward and i would here kind of like a pop in the front bottom. Today a lifted it up and put all 4 wheels on jack stands. I shifted it to 4wd an no light but i do have vacuum. If i accelerate i can see the front drive shaft moving but the non of the two front tires move at all they get very hard to move when i tried doing it by hand. if i put it in N i can move both freely. Any type of help please. what ideas of what it could be.

good work so far, especially having truck up on jack stand so you can evaluate whats going on.
here is the whole story.. http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/repair/..._engagment.htm

if you have a vaccum gauge, verify you are getting sufficient vac at the cad. a gauges should be cheap something like $10. if vac not good, temporarily run a new vac line all the way to the manifold. this will rule out vac leaks. once you have good vac, with 4 wd engaged, rotate passenger side wheel back and forth to try and get the fork to move and engage the axle. be aware that the light is another variable, that may or may not work. if all that fails, remove the cad unit from the axle and see whats going on. some oil will come out, so have a pan. once removed, (truck off) you should be able to slide the collar back and forth. with cad in your hand, truck running, vac should move the shift fork back and forth. internal fork shaft is probably rusty or stuck.
heres an article that explains how to remove the shift fork and shaft.

I agree, its still a vacume problem. Vacume doesn't engage the t-case itself, thats mechanical, so the drive shaft will be spining yes.

Check vacume at the CAD like posted and that should sove your problem!

ok i took off the diff cover off and i had sludge. guess i had some water with mud in their i already cleaned it out real good. Ok then i went ahead and took off the Vacum engagment thing and i think i found the problem. FULL of sludge it couldnt even move the fork. OK ONE QUICK question is the axle shaftgoing towards the passanger tire supposed to be able to move up and down? cuz i was checking to see if the sleeve worked where the fork shifts the sleeve and i could move it up and down and back and foward is that normal.

Ok just giving an update. Well before i put everything back together i decided to test the vac motor. It didnt move, i found out that there was build up inside the 4x4 sensor and didnt let the fork move. Ok well then i found what my clunk was the sleeve on the axle shaft wasnt going all the way so it would clunk when in 4x4. I had to move it around a bit and put some oil in thier so it could slide and Everything is working good know. Thanx for youalls input. READY FOR THE MUD again.
