transmission kickdown cable
so I just got done driving about a thousand miles from Colorado to Illinois. I had no issues with my truck (99 ram 1500 4x4 5.9 auto) the entire drive until I got to my exit in Illinois. Suddenly, the thing is shifting hard out of first, and won't shift at all into 3rd. I only had 4 miles to go, so 2nd was fine. The whole time I'm dreading having to pay a local trans shop that I don't know to rebuild my trans here... anyway, came out this morning, and the trans kickdown cable is almost snapped. Only has 2 strands holding it on. The plastic adjuster got a bit hot or something and decided to break, so on a few of my full throttle passes, I'm sure it just wrenched it out of whack. Anyway, I did a quickie temp fix on it, and it's fine. Good as new! Ordered one from Dodge, it'll be in tuesday, and it's $40. Just a friendly reminder to check yours!

RE: transmission kickdown cable
When I was pulling my engine, I broke the connector for the TV cable at the TB. I superglued it together, and I'll be damned if it has held up for over 12,000 on the rebuild and all that heat. What's really holding it together is the fact that I bought a new cable in case this one breaks, and I keep it in the truck at all times.
