Hi, New to the board. I have a 1996 1500 with 48k miles. I went to start the truck yesterday and it will not turn over. When I turn the switch it clicks but the started does not engage. I'm thinking it's the
Solenoid but not sure. Does anyone have a diagram to where it is located and possible part number??
TIA!!! Joey

I tried that and nada. Battery tests good as well. This has a really messed up alarm system installed as well and thought it could be that. Disengaged the alarm and still nothing. Thesame dayit clicked once but then when I turned the key again it started. The next time around it clicked and nothing.

RE: Truck won't start
Is there a link you know of to a diagram/layout of the electrical and mechanical to this truck? This truck has been so reliable I've never done anything to it but oil changes and tune ups. Trying to do alittle legwork before hands so I don't run out of daylight after work this evening.

RE: Truck won't start
I am having the exact same problem with my 96 as well right now, sometimes a click sometimes a start. I have tested the batteries (duals, thanks previous owner!) the cables, and the starter relay. Next is to remove the starter/solenoid and test them out.

check out https://dodgeforum.com/m_340929/tm.htm , steve05ram360 posted a 2001 FSM that so far has been very similar to the 96 layout (at least for this issue)
