Looking at '98 RAM QC...
1998 Dodge Ram Sport Xtra Cab 4 X 4, great condition, intense blue metallic, cloth interior, A/C, AM/FM/CD, Automatic, V8, K & N Cold air intake, 92K
What mechanical (maintenance) work should have been done, what's upcoming at the 100k mark? What should I look out for? Tranny issues? It appears to be in good condition from pics.
Thanks!

I bought them same style truck a month ago only diff was it is white and has leather. Mileage was 87k and came with a 6" SkyJacker lift and additional 3" body lift, multi shock set up and pwr everything. After test driving it I checked all the fliuds for level and condition, checked the shifting of the tranny and transfer, made sure the guy didn't take out any of the dash lights (ie. check eng., ABS, etc.) by turning the ignition on but not starting it. I looked for any leaks and then I got the VIN # and took it to the local Dodge dealership and checked the maintenance or repairs that were done ,if any, then I did a Carfax check with the VIN. Now this method isn't 100% full proof but it's pretty damn close and I recommend doing this to any sports car/truck or 4 wheel drive vehicle where the potential to " get on it" exists. Mine only had minor things such as the upper and lower ball joints needed replacing and I had to change the belt tensioner due to rust at the spring area. I did change all of the fliuds except the tranny because it looked good and the service record showed it had recently been serviced at the dealership. I do these things when buying a used vehicle for 2 reasons 1) i have a starting point for service and maintenance and 2) I keep a personal service log for everything I do to the vehicle with a ziplock pocket for all of the receipts which adds to the resale value of the vehicle should you sell it privately or trade it in on another down the road. I recently sold my 2002 Ford Mustang GT I bought brand new, with 95k (all highway miles) to my neighbor August of last year for $10K. It was an aesy sell because I was the original owner and I had the service log and receipts and I kept it in great condition. The dealership was only going to give me $5500 on trade and I talked them up to $6500. I knew the car was worth way more due to the upgrades done so I took my chances selling it privately and got $3500 more than I would have at the dealership. Documentation will out do word-of-mouth any day. Hopefully this helps and this is what I do PERSONALLY. Also match what the person is asking against the bluebook value.
