few ? / problems
hey i just had a few ?'s
i have an 01 ram 1500, with the 5.2 4wd auto.
i was wondering what i would have to do and a ball park figure on cost, to change my gears from 3.55 to like 4.10, i heard if you do 4.09 you dont have to changes out the carrier. is this true? also if i did go for 4.09 what would i need? just a ring and pinion?
thanks ya'all

"If you ask they will answer" I was thinking about changing out my 4.56 to a lower ratio to save fuel but thanks to the guru's on this site, and I say this in the highest respect imaginable, I stayed with my 4.56's, however here are a couple of websites that I know that will help: www.4wheelparts.com, www.summitracing.com, www.jegs.com, www.4wd.com, www.alloutoffroad.com . Hopefully this helps and if you go with 2wheelparts.com ask for Leon at ext 5110 and tell him Nicco sent you. He gives better discounts on parts and shipping than most also they have a gear and tire scale that will help show you good, better, best as far as fuel and RPM are concerned.
Find a friend serivce person at your local Dodge dealership and tell him/her the gear and tire size. They will come up with a number and using the handheld programmer reprogram your computer that will adjust your speedo to the correct setting. It took my bud less than a minute. My setting was 578 with 4.56 gears and 35x12.50R17's. Hopefully this helps.
