Turndowns seem to make it a lot louder. I don't know why but they do.

If you are gonna use turndowns make sure its legal ! in PA exhaust pipe must exit away from the "truck" cant exit underneath it.... Depends on the shop you deal with to , ask them before you do it....

From my understanding it is because the sound from the exhaust is smacking the ground versus just flowing out the back of the vehicle into the air behind the truck. Also, if anyone else living in a state that has a cold winter will vouch that the cold air will make your exhaust sound more crisp as compared to summer when the air is much warmer and moister.

I just got my 40 series, single inlet/dual outlet, installed today with turndowns angledkinda towards the side, that way the sound bounces off the concrete but also exits out the side. If you were to look under the truck from the tailgate they have an angle like this, / \. My friends who have heard it say it sounds pretty loud. But like stated above whether or not it is legal is based on where you live. I live in Texas and turndowns are not illegal, only law we have for dumps(turndowns) is that the tips must exit 6in. past the end of the truck cab.
