Default Vacuum leak

Obviously I have something wrong here. No idea what I'm missing. The screw shouldn't be there I know that, but I can't seem to find a vacuum hose that isn't connected so I dont know what should be connected here.

Of couse this is what I am guessing is causing my wild vents when accelerating.

Anyone have pictures of what should go here? The problem is circled in red. Other picture is identical just not marked where the screw is.

This is on a 97 club cab 5.2 4x4.

Thanks!

not off the top of my head. i'll check tomorrow. the wild vents is probably caused by a bad check valve, not the plugged up vac hose, assuming the bolt doesn't leak.

you can see the check valve in your pic, on the hose on the bottom right. its about the diameter of a quarter and about 3/8" thick. i think there are 2 of them. they're cheap.

Figured I would replace the check valve anyway, never hurts right?

Let me know what you find out.

Thanks

I think , And correct me if im wrong , but that goes to the Blower vent controls . and Cruise control does it not?

Edit: Wild vents? Our vent selector is controlled by vaccum , and I know when I step on it good , my vent goes to defrost position from the lac of vaccum, but from the way you asked, you knew that already!

Cruise control does work so not sure if it's part of the cruise or not.

I took a peek under the hood of my truck today while checking the trans fluid and the part your missing runs up and into the heater core box directly on top of one of the heater lines. I took a picture of it with my phone and I will see if I can upload it in a bit.

Here is the pic. Sorry that it looks so bad, but I had a crappy flashlight and my 2 megapixel phone. It looks like the vacuum line that is running out of mine is re-routed on your truck to a different location.

Comparing your picture to my picture, where does that vacuum line go from your truck when it comes out of the heater box? It looks like it runs over to your intake or tb or something.

My 01 has 4 different vacuum tee's. i'm not sure they are all original, because i had an extra vacuum reservoir, which i removed.

junction #1 is at the manifold. the cruise control tee's off to the front, and the main line continues to the rear.

junction #2 is at the rear corner of the TB. the top line runs to the rear to the transfer case. the main line turns to the passenger side.

junction #3 is beside the AC accumulator cannister. its the lower one in this pic, and partially hidden. the line to the left went to a non-standard vacuum reservoir. it was on the truck when i got it, and served no purpose that i could identify, so i removed it and plugged the line with a bolt, similar to yours. the main line continues towards the valve cover breather.

junction #4 is in the foreground of the pic, beside the heater hose. it tee's into 2 smaller lines. the top right one goes through the firewall to operate the heater/ac control. the top left one goes through the firewall at the top, into the cowl area, where there is a standard (stock) vacuum reservoir.
