Because I have a base model. I have neither the plastic inserts or the lights from the factory.

I really need to get fog lights...

Default Fog Light Wiring

Hey I was hoping someone could help me out. I'm trying to install fog lights on my '97 using the factory wiring. I was just hoping someone could either post a picture of the factory harness that goes to the fog light switch or let me know the wire colors from top to bottom. Thanks

If your truck didn't come from the factory with fogs, then I don't think you have the factory wiring for them either.

Thats correct, if it didn't come with it, it won't have the wiring for it. You'll have to run your own.

Run any fogs you install off their own relay and the battery, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT run them off the stock headlight wires only. That will overload the switch and cause it to fail. I actually went the whole route and relayed my headlights as well, one relay for lows, one for highs, and a separate HD switch for the fogs. Mainly because I run 80w/100w 9004 bulbs, and 100w fogs. Also replaced the harnesses with HD ones designed for that much wattage, because the stockers would have supposedly melted.

I don't have factory fogs installed but have this connector ... what's IT for?

That's the front crossmember, behind/under the bumper.

That's for factory fogs I believe. Don't use it though. The factory wiring harness is crap.

Oh, THATS what that is! I have that too, always wondered what it was for.

Guess I stand corrected. They do have some of the wiring for fogs, even when they don't come equipped. Heh.

Hey TMS Bill, the picture you took of that harness IS NOT a fog light harness. I don't know what it is, but it's not a fog light harness. the harness is suppost to be under the radiator more or less in the middle. It's oval with 2 blue wires and one black. The one you took a picture of, I have that harness to and I STILL don't know what it's for either.

Well thats the thing It currently doesn't have fog lights. I don't know if it ever did. But here's the thing, I have the fog light harness that connects to the lights and I've followed it up to the relays, but from there, I get lost. I'm just curious if any one can tell me what the wire colors are on the harness that connects to the fog light switch. the haynes manual "conveniontly" skipped that part. I want to keep that "factory" look. It just wouldn't make sense to put that bottom section but not the top section. If anyone could help, I'd be greatfull!!! has anyone else read this page about fog lights?
