The one you took a picture of, I have that harness to and I STILL don't know what it's for either.
According to the diagram on page 1112 of the service manual, that is connector C106. C106 has 2 forms. One of them is closed with what appears to be a terminated plug, the other is open.

C106 is connected to G107 20GY. According to the diagram, Pin G107 20GY is listed as "4WD SWITCH SENSE"

C106 also has a listing for connection G107 18BK/GY. (Z1 18BK are both grounds) This took me to this connector:

And there you have it, those connectors are connectors for some sort of 4WD sensor.

I have a '98 Ram and a 1994-1998 Ram Haynes manual. The fog light switch shown in it has what looks like a 6-pin connector (C226) with 5 wires going into it: 1) Broun/White wire -- Fog Relay #2 Coil; 2) Black wire -- Fog Switch to ground; 3) Black wire -- Fog Switch Ind to ground; 5) Orange wire -- O/D Switch Illum. Lamp; 6) Lt. Blue wire -- Fog Switch Ind power.

Fog Lamp Relay #1 de-energizes the fog lamps circuit when the hi-beams are on. Fog Lamp Relay #2 energizes the fog lamps circuit when the Fog Lamp Switch is closed and Fog Lamp Relay #1 is de-energized (no hi-beams).

Hope this helps.
