Trans was rebuilt two years ago and there is probably close to 20k or so on this trans since the rebuild. Figured it would be a good idea to change the filter so I did this afternoon.

I did purchase a drain plug which I planned to install, but quite frankly chickened out. There is a lot going on in that trans and seemed like there was little room for error. All in all draining the pan was not as bad as I thought and since im only dropping that pan once every two years or so... its not a big deal at all in my opinion. I also didn't want to drill a hole and not have it work.... and then be stuck in my back yard until I get a new pan. Either way... its done, im happy.

 

Looks good. Missing the DIY if a 14yr can make one a 20 something can make one two.

 

yeah... well there is a write up by a few members already and didn't figure there needed to be another DIY but just wanted to put some more pictures out there for everyone if they want to tackle it themselves.

Speaking of MonteC..... I have a question for him when he swings back in again. I am curious what size the filter bolts were. I got a Torx 20 bit and tried it out. It seemed loose in the head but she grabbed and the bolt came right out. I was missing my Torx 25 bit so I asked my brother for his and tried that out on the second bolt. It fit better but still didn't seem like the right one. Torx 30 was too big. Either way, the torx 25 tightened it back up.

Torx 25 worked for me.
I don't blame you for blowing off the drain bolt, I almost did myself but went ahead and installed it with no problems, may or may not be glad some day that I did.

Very Nice! When I searched for some reason I didn't run across yours before I did this. No one really can decide on a good spot to put the drain plugs (everyone has them some where else). The other thing that held me back was that... knowing my luck, that sucker would have weeped left and right after I filled the pan back up.... At which point I would have been extremely mad. Do you have pictures of what your fluid looked like by chance?

 

I put mine near the front in the middle. So, it is protected by the exhaust pipe.
