On a 1999 ram 4x4 1500with a 3 inch body lift what is the largest tire I can use I'm hopping a 35 inch will fit.

35's might run at full lock...may want to go 33's on the safe side. They should still fill up those large wheel wells pretty good. Go any bigger than 33's, you'll def need to some rear end work, like change your gear ratio...

I had 35s on my '98 RCSB 5.9 4x4 with 3" body lift. Big time backspaced 16" wheels and slight rub at full turn. Little trimming needed but only plastic. Mine came with 3.92 gears stock (thank the Lord) but mileage still sucked, 9 mpg city, 12.5 on trips IF I didn't go much over 70 mph on the interstates...

i just bought a 1998 1500 4x4 with a fair sized lift, and running 315/75/16's. It has stock 3.55 gears in it. What harm is this? What will I gain from going to 3.90's? I won't be off road too much with the truck. Just wondering whats good and whats bad. ie, fuel mileage, launch acceleration etc.

you would gain all and some...i mean your gas mileage will return close to stock or maybe better, acceleration will of course be better, less strain on the drivetrain. everything is a plus when it comes to changing the final ratio. i would do 4.56s if i was you. your not going to notice that big of a difference from 3.55 to 3.90. for the money that your going to dish out for a little increase in performance will not be worth it in my opinion. i hope that answers your question

FYI there is no 3.90 its only 3.55 3.92 4.10 or 4.56

3.55 is fine for stock

3.92 stock tire size but want more low end

4.10 your gonna need them to push them 33" down the road

4.56 you need the for 35"
