Default Tires

Hi I am new to the forum and was just wondering what the biggest tire size that i could fit on my truck would be.

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd It has a 3" body lift and a 3.5" Fabtech suspension lift. It also has a 2" front leveling kit. The truck has 285/75/16 (33") Rocky Mountain Falken on it now but they look small and i would like bigger tires.

If someone could tell me what the biggest size tire that i could fit it would be great! Name: photo.jpg

I'd wager your max size could be 38" with some minor cutting to be done front/rear wheel wells IF the tires were going to be stuffed.

37s would fit with probably only a need to trim the front bumper.

Here's a thread for reference as my comments are based on it and a buddy of mine.

If you haven't changed gear ratio, I'd stay with what you have, maybe a 295/75, a 285 tire is really about 32.8" diameter whereas a 295 is about 33.4", going extreme like a 37" or 38" is really going to affect your low end power without changing gear ratio $$$$$. IMO your truck would look great with 35" no bigger or 315/75/16

OP, do you know what gears you have? With 35s, 4.10s would be probably the minimum Id recommend, 4.56s would be better. Any bigger than 35s, 4.56s or 4.88

I am not sure what gears are in it now, but swapping out gears would not be a problem since I am probably going to put a Auburn LSD in it.

If it still has stock gears, you can find out what ratio by looking at the tag on the drivers side (i think...) door jamb.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I live in nj and lost power due to hurricane sandy. Anyway, I looked on both door jams and could not find the gearing. I also looked in the glove box but the tag was so worn out you could not see anything. Is there another place I could look?
