Fixed My P1757 Shift Problem! With Pics!
Had a good day. Cold here in Mass. Heated the garage up then opened the door and let my 99 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 in from the cold. Its a long bed so the *** end hangs out the door.
I got a Check Engine Light and the trucks been shifting terribly. I posted on here that I needed help. Many folks chimed in and sent me in the right direction. Basically, the Pressure Solenoid and Sensor need to be replaced. THere is great info on here so I am not doing a FIY procedure. just documenting what I went thru.
I pulled the pan. What a mess. Saw what I was dealing with and dove in. Unhooked the cables and pulled the block off.
The solenoid was almost plugged. Cleaned the block and replaced the parts. Changed the filter, replaced the pan gasket. Filled it with 5 qts. took it for a ride. SHifted funny a the start. When it got primed with fluid, she shifted like it was new again. I was pumped!
I drove it around for 25 minutes. Checked the fluid level (level ground and in neutral) and I didn't see much on the dip stick. I added 2 more qts. Seems perfect now.
Here is some pics. Thanks to everyone that helped me out. There are some smart and experienced folks on this forum.

Sorry didn't mention i have a 99 ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.9. The 05 is my 2x4. I wanna get the sensors but haven't pulled it apart yet and don't wanna buy the wrong ones.

hey so I’m wondering if anyone can help me I recently changed all the solenoids on the valve body of the transmission. Changed the filter and tightened the band back up to where it needs to be being that it had the piece that keeps the band tight had fallen off. So after doing all that I was driving the truck around had no issues filled the fluid back up to the mark after running it a little next day took it around the block making sure everything was operating the way it should then it through a check engine light took out the code reader to find out the governor pressure switch was at 3% when it should be at 0 which makes me a little mad considering I had just got done switching out all those solenoids and switches when working on the trans wondering if anyone can help do I need to switch it out faulty switch? Or could it have gotten dirty and I just need to try and clean it off. Thanks in advance for any input.
